Podiatry Tuggeranong & Canberra

Experienced podiatrists with a wealth of knowledge, ready to get you back on your feet.

Caring for your feet and lower legs is much more important than you may think. These highly complex structures do all they can to keep you up and moving, and need specific attention and care to keep you performing at your best.

How Podiatry May Help You

A podiatrist is an allied health practitioner who aims to treat conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs. If you have pain or discomfort in your feet or lower legs that stop you from moving around as you’d like, seeing our Canberra podiatrists may be of great benefit to you.

Podiatry contains two main categories: General foot care and biomechanical podiatry – for sore feet and legs. At Capital Podiatry we focus on biomechanical podiatry with a hands-on approach that differs from many other podiatrists’ methods. In focusing on biomechanical podiatry we understand that your feet are unique, and use the techniques that aim to get you back on your feet.

Treatment Techniques

At Capital Podiatry we use tailored treatment plans so that you get the most out of your treatment. Depending on your specific needs and goals, this may include foot mobilisation, shockwave treatment, dry needling, and biomechanical assessments. Additionally, unlike many general podiatrists, we use hands-on therapy so that we get a real feel for your concerns and make sure we address them as efficiently as we can.

Our Podiatry Services

CUSTOM ORTHOTICS

Orthotics are far from a one-size-fits-all approach. We use the latest technology to design and 3D print custom orthotics that support the natural shape of your feet, made just for you and only you.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy stimulates the body’s own processes in an effort to treat conditions such as shin splints, inflamed ligaments, plantar fasciitis, and more. By applying a hand-held applicator to the skin, we use shockwave therapy with the aim of accelerating healing without needles, medication, or surgery.

SWIFT WART TREATMENT

Warts are much more common than you may have thought. Although they’ve traditionally been hard to get rid of, the latest technology known as Swift Microwave Therapy we use at Capital Podiatry aims to speed up the process.

INGROWN TOENAIL SURGERY

Ingrown toenails can be painful and may even lead to infections if not adequately treated. If you have a chronic ingrown toenail or toenails, we offer ingrown toenail surgery that may be of great benefit to you and help you get back in your favourite shoes.

What We Treat

HEEL & FOOT PAIN

Whether your heel and foot pain is the result of high-impact exercise, tight muscles, or even your walking style, we conduct a thorough examination to determine any issues and identify which treatment/s may be beneficial for you.

RUNNING PAIN

When you’re an active person who loves to run, pain during or after running can really get you down. We take a tailored approach to your running pain and may incorporate gait analysis, mobilisation, and tailored remedial exercises in an effort to get you back up and running.

FUNGAL NAILS

Fungal nails— an infection of the nail, nail bed, and nail plate— can take months to control if left untreated. See us at Capital Podiatry as soon as possible, where we may use our Lunula Laser treatment plus work to reduce toenail thickness, tidy up your toenails, and reduce the chance of the infection spreading.

WARTS

Plantar warts are rough lesions usually found on the bottom of the foot which may cause pain or tenderness when you put weight on them. We aim to treat warts with Swift Microwave Therapy, the world’s leading wart treatment technology, in as few 30-minute sessions as possible.

INGROWN NAILS

Ingrown toenails can be painful and may even become chronic, meaning that the ingrown nail keeps recurring. Complications can occur from ingrown nails, especially for people with diabetes, so it’s important to seek treatment. If you get to the point where you can’t wear some of your shoes and/or your condition becomes chronic, we provide ingrown toenail surgery which may take as little as 45 minutes.

PLANTAR FASCIITIS

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of pain in the heel. It occurs when the thick band of tissue that connects the heel to the toes becomes inflamed, leading to pain near the heel that is often worse in the morning. Treatment options will vary, but custom orthotics may be a good option for you to distribute the pressure on your feet more evenly.

BUNIONS

Bunions are a bump on the joint typically next to the big toe, and sometimes on the opposite side of the foot at the little toe. Treatment options may include custom orthotics or foot mobilisation.

ACHILLES TENDONITIS

Achilles tendonitis, otherwise known as tendonitis of the heel, tends to cause pain, tenderness, or swelling that may reduce your range of motion and flexibility. We assess your symptoms, lifestyle and goals to create a tailored treatment plan.
